Song Of The Day Paul Simon "Mother And Child reunion"

Song Of The Day goes out to the mother and child reunion of Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds.  Tragedy has struck, and grief is no doubt upon their family and friends.

Debbie Reynolds - RIP

Man - what a crappy couple of days for this family.  Today's Song Of The Day goes out to Debbie Reynolds...RIP.

What a beautiful song (and beautifully sung I might add).  "Tammy" comes from the film, Tammy And The bachelor, which is a romantic comedy from 1957.

While most of my generation will know him from Airplane! and The Naked Gun series, Leslie Nielsen was quite a serious actor before those films and also stars along side Reynolds here.

No parent should have to burry their child, and it wouldn't surprise me if she passed away from a broken heart : (

In your memory, Debbie...

George Micheal - RIP

My personal favorite Wham! song and (IMHO) one of the best synth pop bass lines EVER.

I've read all of the various forums - people don't seem to agree what it is.  Some say Juno 60 because George was fond of those, some say Minimoog.  Perhaps it's a combo of a couple synths.

Song Of The Day Vince Guaraldi "Christmas Time Is Here"

It's not Christmas until I hear this song!

Probably my dad's favorite Christmas album.  This song invokes so many memories it's not even funny.  We used to get so excited around the holidays because that meant we could stay up just a liiiiitle bit longer to watch the cartoons that came on at night.

Song Of The Day Information Society "Pure Energy"

We go from a song with tons of energy to Pure Energy.  First song I thought of after yesterday's post.  Information Society nailed the magic formula with this Synth Pop gem.

Coming Soon!

TheSoliLama.com is getting an update soon! (As soon as I figure out how to add menus to the page)

I'll be categorizing everything into different sections so everything will be easier to find.  In the past, I've done concert reviews, album reviews, gear reviews, and photos.  I will now be adding daily posts for a Song "Of The Day" like I do on The Soli Lama Twitter page and Facebook page.  Also I'll be adding a new section dedicated to Synthesizer Do It Yourself builds (SDIY).

Stay tuned!!

The Bones Of J.R. Jones Live Review And Photos

Opening for G Love & Special Sauce in Charlotte the other week was The Bones Of J.R. Jones (Jonathon Linaberry).  Similar to The Low Volts (Who supported Brian Setzer last December), Linaberry is a one man band that brings an interesting version of swamp blues.

G Love Love Saves The Day Tour Review and Photos

G Love & Special Sauce stopped by Charlotte bringing their brand of dirty blues to the Queen City in support of their latest album, Love Saves The Day a little over a week ago.

I caught last year's tour supporting Sugar so I was looking forward to this show when it came up on the radar.

Joey Sykes Classic New Rock Review

What’s got two thumbs and loves Power Pop?

THIS GUY!

I participated in Joey Sykes Indiegogo campaign a while back and received my CD not too long ago (I opted for the personally signed and mailed CD version).  For those of you aren’t familiar with Joey – he’s been in the music scene for quite some time.  I personally discovered him when an in-store promo copy (Which I still have) of his former band Coward came into our record store (Remember those?)  Joey was a main writer and lead guitarist in the band - check this out...
